Innovative, unique, motivated and creative – these are the characteristics of WorldSkills, a charitable international organization whose mission is the permanent upgrading of the status, reputation and the standards of industrial trades and professional training worldwide. WorldSkills was already founded in the 1950s, the organization currently has 51 members. It runs a varied program of activities whose pivotal point is the international WorldSkills professional competition. This is the biggest worldwide professional competition organized every other year in one of the member countries and in which more than 45 industrial trades are represented in just as many disciplines – from cabinet maker to chef all the way to web designer. We at Würth attach particular importance to excellence –and we share the claim of being innovative, unique, motivated and creative. This is one of the reasons why we signed an agreement with WorldSkills International on July 1, 2009 which makes us official “Global Sponsor Partner“. With this, we want to make a worldwide contribution to the improvement and upgrading of professional training and craft.
“WorldSkills is a powerful means for building a global skills respect culture. It enables the best of the world’s young skilled people to motivate and inspire successive generations to see that vocational skills can lead to secure and fulfilling lives in a fast-changing, competitive world", says Jack Dusseldorp, President of WorldSkills.
